12. Screenprinting: color and emphasis

title: unknown
artist: Jacob Horwood
size: unknown
history: unknown

I chose this piece because it shows lots of color and little emphasis within it. I thought the mixture of colors were an interesting way to use them together as the yellow and whites are close to the greens and blues since you normally dont really ever see that color combination.

10. Screenprinting:Shape

title: unknown
artist: Windy Hill Happenings
size: unknown
history: unknown

This is a series of prints combined print transformed into a quilt like work. As you can see there are lots of different shapes within shapes, such as the shape that makes up the leafs have little circles in them. I chose this piece because I thought it was cool how the artist used her prints to make a bigger piece of art work.

11. Screenprinting:Pattern/Repetition

title: unknown
artist: unknown
size: unknown
history: unknown

The reason I chose this piece was because it has a lot of repetition and pattern in it, with the shapes of the squares. I also like how the color went from dark to light and how the pieces start to disappear off into space.

9. Collagraph: color

title: Night Flight
artist: Emily Gray Koehler
image size: 11.50" x 7.50"
paper size: 14.00" x 10.00"
history: unknown

This is a original woodcut with a collagraph. I really like how the sky looks with the moon and the different colors that define it, as the black is a nice touch that shows how the night sky looks when looking up at things under it.

7. Drypoint: Pattern/ Repetion

title:Hatching Pattern
artist: Jasper Johns
size: unknown

This piece was done in 1976, by aquatint and dry point. The lines and color give it a pattern, its difference in shaping of grouping of lines in different the three different colors gives it an interesting appeal.

6. Drypoint:line

artist: known as Mr. Hardy
size: unknown
history unknown.

I chose this picture because not only is it beautiful and seems like it holds a story as you look into its eyes, it is also a good example of line in Dry point, as you can see the shading in the horse used by lines that help define the horses shape.

5.Lino Cut/ Linoleum Cut: texture

Title: Winter Branches
artist: Natalia M
size: unknown ( it is not clear as in what the dimensions are)
this artist used different color schemes, two plates to print this piece.

I love all the little detail in this picture there is detail in lines and shapes everywhere you look whether on the tree the tree itself or in the background.

4.Lino Cut/ Linoleum Cut(balance)

title: Bass Rock Lino cut

artist Jackie Hunter
size unknown. But the artist wanted to use one single lino block to create this image. I think it is a good example of balance as there is both weight on the bottom and top of the print as well as the larger image is in the middle of the picture, as the birds are both symmetrical from each other down to the clouds in the background. The image is of a landmark known as the Bass rock in the Fifth of Forth

1.Embossing/Blind Embossing

Title, artist, size unknown. I came across this print online and loved the little detail within the butterfly, even the spots of the different colors on the paper make it more interesting. There is lots of shape and lines used in this butterfly within its different butterfly details, I think it is even more so amazing that the image mirrors its detail pretty closely to the opposite side I know that is hard to do on a butterfly.

2.Embossing Intaglio

Dust Storm 1965
The artist is Earle Backen, this print is an intaglio, the technique used was etching and aquatint, it is printed in color the size of the plate is 44.7h x 30.4w cm the sheet is 63.3h x 48.1w cm. there are only 110 copies of this print, 10 of which the artist had made for his own use as the 100 were used in a commission.

Even though this picture is of a dust storm, when i look at it I see different things, I see a dog, a cloud, a moon, and a figure that could resemble the sun. For these reasons I like this picture because I can see different things within it from the shapes and colors used..However there are definite shapes and lines used in this piece.

3.Lino cut

Lino cut:

Love Birds

Love Birds-original lino cut greeting card by Maria Kitano
size: 7x5 inch (18x12 cm)
acid free paper

I like how she uses two love birds, as I plan to use two love birds in a tree as one of our lino projects. I like how the shape she uses also can be seen as a heart forming with the outlining of the two love birds.

                                                                     Forest

by: Katarzyna Cyganik
size: 50x35

I like how the forest seems to come to life with the different shapes of the branches and the leaves  forming through out this artwork.

Operatic Fusion

by: Lauren Kussro

linocut collage on handmade paper
size: 22''x22''
made 2008

I like how the shape of this looks, as its hypnotizing an intricate, how each shape is so detailed as it forms a flower.
